Call of the Pharaoh - MWC 2008 winner

Mobile World Congress 2008 is over and winners are announced. Winner in best mobile game category are Call of the Pharaoh by Cellufun and My Hangman by Glu Mobile. Here is description of Call of the Pharaoh.

"Call of the Pharaoh is modelled after viral pyramid schemes, so the game was designed using a pyramid scheme algorithm and, in an effort to follow the pattern, was then made about being a pharaoh and building a pyramid. By requiring recruitment and cooperation, the game drives viral exposure and traffic. Call of the Pharaoh is compelling and innovative because it engages the entire community of Cellufun users and requires participation and communication from all parties in order for any one gamer to advance to a next level. The community aspect and pyramid scheme design of this game help it stand out from the rest."

Charles Darwin's Beagle

Recently I spent several hours traveling by bus, without any source of fun except my Nokia mobile phone. I realized that I have to do something about it for such future trips. I enjoy reading, but carrying books around is not always an option.

Solution is mobile book or mBook, which is small Flash lite file I can transfer to my mobile phone. There are limitations, I know, but I'm not looking for perfection just something that can do the trick.

Check out my example - Charles Darwin's The Voyage of the Beagle preface. download here.

File is only 9 kb and has 14 pages. File dimensions are 176 x 208. First screen is "jump page" where you can enter page number where you wanna start reading. Press right button, then OK and enter number of page and then number 5 for jump. Navigation is done by pressing buttons up and down.

Now this mBook is just small experiment, but it allows any text book to be converted in a form that is suitable for reading on mobile devices that supports Flash Player. So, what should I read next?

Monetize Your Content

While trying to master more of FlashLite some websites came across as potential money makers. Flash Lite content for mobile devices has great market value if it is high quality content. Everything is acceptable wallpapers, screensavers, animations, games.

One of those places is Mobibase. You can get qualified to sign Licensing Agreement with Mobibase and start earning some cash. In order to apply minimum 10 examples are needed. They accept swf files, not zip.
